Because you are reading this post, you have found your way to the mod's new home, http://www.blockpartymod.com. The website is also being hosted by a real hosting company, rather than by my old student web account. Be sure to update any links and bookmarks you have.

Along with new hosting and a new address comes a new website feature, a public forum. It will be ready as soon as I customize it with pretty little LEGO-related graphics. Watch for the forum link to appear in the navigation menu to the left.

"Block Party" has been chosen as the new mod name. The name was originally suggested by a friend of mine, Shaun Ryder, so if any of you are in Japan and happen to see a large white man with a baseball cap, thank him for me. And thank you to everyone who voted in Round 2.

Round 2 results are unavailable due to my inability to access the database they were stored in. I might be able to update this post later with the final tally, but Block Party was winning the entire time the Round 2 ballot was open.

Round 1 of the name voting, lasting one month, is finished. 1237 votes were cast, including 161 write-ins. The winner so far is "Block Party," but two write-ins received many votes, so we have added one of them to the second round ballot. "Blocked" and "Choking Hazard" received 27 and 33 votes, respectively, while almost all the others were single votes. We also count different spellings as the same name, so "Choking Hazard" and "Choking Hazλrd" are equivalent.

As mentioned above, only one of the write-ins is on the second round ballot. "Choking Hazard" is a great name, but it's more appropriate for a specific map than as the title of the entire mod. It is doubtful that LEGO would appreciate a mod with a name that emphasizes the all-too-real dangers of small pieces of plastic. In the wrong hands, LEGO bricks can be deadly!

By the way, many of the other write-ins will also make good names for maps, so we will be using them, too.

Thank you to everyone who voted, and I have a special thanks to whomever tried to stuff the ballots the first day. My being lazy and not bothering to write code to prevent this taught me a lesson. :D

Remember to vote in round 2 if you haven't already.

Welcome to version two of the website! This update was long overdue, so please look around and let us know what you think. There are more pages, more team members, more pictures, and (best of all) more progress on the project.

Let me introduce our new team members. Richard Lockwood joined a long time ago, but since I was too la—, er, busy to finish this second version of the website, his name was only mentioned in passing. Rich is our second modeler, so view Rich's profile on the Team page. Next is Michael Pearse, our second animator. Check out his profile, too. Rasmus Gulbæk, modeler, hails from LEGO's homeland Denmark, so be sure to read about him! Finally, a number of you have expressed interest in testing our mod. We are of course happy to have dedicated testers, so thank you. However, until we actually have something to test, you'll just have to wait. Don't worry; you'll be added to the team when it's time. The same thing goes for those of you interested in making maps and levels.

If you somehow missed our fabulous circa 1995 splash screen (sans annoying Flash intro movie — we promise), please go there now and vote on a new name for the mod. If you also missed seeing the test animations Mike Rayhawk made, I've posted the flexible joint version to the right. Check out both of them on the Screenshots page.

Regardless of whatever name is finally chosen, we are positive that we are making the best Half-Life 2 mod ever. Thank you again for your interest and support, and remember that volunteers are always welcome.
